A Strong Economy
After hearing from manufacturers and building trades on how hard it was to find skilled people, we created several new programs to train students for these exciting, well-paid careers.
Recruiting and training minority teachers has been a priority during this legislative session. New programs were implemented to recruit teachers from CT's cities. Additionally, Access Health CT started a minority broker educational program which is designed to bring more people of color into the insurance brokerage business.
In additional to the child tax credit and income tax reductions, tax cuts were placed on gas, property taxes on cars, pensions and annuities, and the unemployment tax. When sales tax revenues are strong, we have the ability to lower taxes and plan for additional reductions. There's plenty of room for improvement in our state's tax policy.
"We've had great success here in Connecticut and we are already looking to expand."
